Three Unique Mosques in Vietnam


The mosque is now not only used as a center of worship and study. In many countries mosques are now one of the tourist destinations. Vietnam is one country that recognizes many religions. Tourists who come to this country can easily find Buddhists, Christians and Muslims mingling.

Vietnam is a Buddhist majority. Many pagodas and temples are scattered in various places. Likewise with the church as a house of worship for Christians.



There are three mosques that are most frequently visited by tourists, both Muslims who are for worship and other people who really admire the architecture of Islamic houses of worship. The three mosques include Saigon Central Mosque, Cho Lon Mosque and Jamiul Islamaiyah Mosque

Saigon Central Mosque

Saigon Central Mosque is located on street 66 Dong Du Viet, Ho Chi Minh. This mosque is open to the public from 08.00 to 21.00 local time. Maybe, this is one of the oldest and most famous mosques in the city.

Built in 1930 by South Indian Muslims, Saigon Central Mosque has a strong impression on visitors. Seen from the art of architecture, the solemn atmosphere and halal food available outside. Shaded mosque verandas and stone flooring make it convenient for visitors.

Cholon Mosque

Located at 641 Nguyen Trai Street, Ward 11, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, right in the middle of the Cholon-Chinatown area, this mosque was built in 1932, the Cholon Mosque originally served the Muslim community of South India living in the area .

However, it was finally opened to Malaysian and Indonesian Muslims in Vietnam since 1975. The most striking of this mosque is its architecture which resembles Chinese and Vietnamese pagodas.

Jamiul Islamiyah Mosque

This mosque is located at 495B Jalan Tran Hung Dao, Cau Kho Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This mosque is also known as the Nancy Mosque. Jamiul Islamiyah was originally built in 1950.

Then, it was rebuilt between 1980 and 2003. In 2004, the mosque officially welcomed the Cham ethnic minority and other Muslim followers in 2004. The mosque is open to the public every day.
