Japan Gives Jakarta Citizens Opportunity to Visit Warships
The general public is allowed to visit two of the three Japanese ships anchored at Dermaga JICT II Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. The two ships are JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki.
Commander of the Japanese Flotilla 4 Escort, First Admiral Tatsuya Fukuda said JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki will be opened to the public on Thursday September 20 and Friday September 21.
"As long as we have a port call in Jakarta, we are planning a friendly exchange event with the Navy and JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki to the general public," Fukuda said at a press conference at JS Kaga, Tuesday, September 18, 2018.
The JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki ships dock at JICT 2 Pier, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. These ships are on the Indo-Pacific mission in Southeast Asia.
Fukuda hoped that the open ship activity could make Indonesian people, especially Jakarta, recognize the Japanese Navy war fleet. "I hope the Indonesian people will deepen their understanding of Japan and JMSDF on this occasion," Fukuda said.

Japan Maritime Self Defense Forces deployed three warships to Jakarta to take part in training with the Navy. The ships will surround a number of Asia Pacific countries and hold joint exercises with each country's navy.
These ships sailed from Japan on August 20 and docked in the Philippines before finally going to Indonesia. Later, after Jakarta, the Japanese ships will go to Sri Lanka, India and Singapore before returning to their country.
