Trump Blames Syria about Russian Aircraft Falling in the Mediterranean
US President Donald Trump said Syria was a shooter of Russian military aircraft that crashed in the Mediterranean Sea. Trump's statement contradicts the Russian Government which previously accused Israel of being the source of the incident.
"It sounds to me, and in my opinion, based on the fact review, that Syria shot down Russian planes. And I understand that around 14 people were killed and that was very sad but that was what happened, "Trump said as quoted by Reuters.
Trump added that his party was currently trying to "clean up" Syria from the Islamic State (IS) group.
"We have done extraordinary work in Syria and in the region eradicated ISIS, that's why we are there. And we almost finished the job, "he said.
Regardless of Trump's assumption, the Russian Defense Ministry will steadily retaliate against Israel's actions which are alleged to have carried out hostile actions against his country.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, IL-20 military aircraft, in which there were 15 soldiers, crashed because of Syrian anti-fighter aircraft gunfire which was the Red Bear State's ally.
Although actually because of Syria, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Israel must take responsibility. This is because at the time of the incident, Israeli fighter jets were carrying out air strikes on Syria.
Therefore, Russian aircraft near the Israeli attack area did not have time to escape. The plane was finally hit by a shot and then fell.
