Women of the Antapani Tribe Deliberately Blocked the Nose to Avoid Kidnapping
Generally, every tribe in various countries has their own traditions, including the Antapani Tribe, which inhabits a small village in the Ziro valley, India.
The Antapani Tribe women are known to have beautiful faces, so it's no wonder many men from other tribes admire them. But unfortunately, because of her beauty, this tribal woman is often kidnapped and never returns.
Seeing this incident, the leader of the Antapani Tribe decided that the women there would use circular nose plugs, known as hurlo. These plugs are placed on both sides of their noses, so that their faces look unattractive.
The plug is made from logs that are in the forest around the settlement. How to make it is also fairly easy. Simply smooth the sticks, then burn the ends and rub them on hard and smooth surfaces.
During this process, wood cleanliness must also be considered and maintained. This is done to reduce the risk of injury to the nose.

Apparently, besides a blocked nose, their faces were also tattooed. However, the tattoo was fairly simple, only in the form of lines that were carved from the forehead to the tip of their noses.
Unfortunately, since the 1970s this tradition has begun to be abandoned because the government banned it. So no wonder, only older women who are seen are still using this nasal plug.
