Mangkhut Storm, Hong Kong Residents Immediately Evacuated

Hong Kong residents are asked to prepare to be evacuated on Saturday (15/9). This is after the Mangkhut storm prediction will hit the Asian region, including areas between the Philippines in Southeast Asia.

The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a warning that hurricanes with a level 10 hurricane force could arrive in the near future. Most likely Mangkhut crashed into the city area on Sunday (16/9).

The storm is expected to blow at speeds reaching more than 118 kilometers to 220 kilometers. Currently, Hong Kong has imposed Standby 1 as a precautionary measure for the Mangkhut storm.

According to predictions, after crashing the Philippines on Saturday (9/15) this morning, the strength of the Mangkhut storm weakened. However, hurricanes will again move strongly and also threaten the southern region of China, Guangdong.

"The power of the wind will be very fast after midnight, so we urge all Hong Kong residents to prepare themselves for evacuation, the sooner the better," Hong Kong assistant observatory Cheng Cho Ming told the Straits Times on Saturday (9/15). )

All urban areas are not expected to avoid Mangkhut threats. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Security Minister John Lee Ka Chiu reportedly held a meeting with about 30 local bureaus and departments to prepare for the disaster situation.

"I have ordered all parties to prepare for the worst," said Ka Chiu.

Although warnings for evacuation have been issued, a number of activities in Hong Kong are reported to be still normal. As for the food deliveryman named Khan (29) who still does his work this morning.

"We will stop work when warnings of storm signals are raised to level eight," Khan said.
